MY MOTIVATION

My greatest motivation lies in empowering people and organizations to take the future back into their own hands. When I came into contact with "Futures Thinking" many years ago, I immediately fell in love with the subject.

Why? Because it empowers people to shape their own future and make the present life the way they want it to be. In school, we learned all about the past and history, but no one explained how to imagine, manage, and shape the future. By approaching the concepts of Futures Thinking, people and organizations come to understand that the future is a space to be shaped rather than a time we wait for. Once we embrace this space, we can learn to dance with the uncertainty of the future. Instead of being afraid of the unknown, with curiosity and motivation, we can seize the opportunity to create a desirable future. However, this does not mean that everything will occur as planned or desired.

MILESTONES

Ever since I first got to know the discipline of Foresight while working in Osram's Corporate Strategy Department, I was immediately blown away: the combination of technological know-how and creativity was a perfect fit for me. So within a week I gathered all the documents I needed to apply for the Master of Strategic Foresight and six months later I was already in Melbourne, Australia.
Being open to many different cultures, languages, and foods allows you to see the world through different eyes. This is of great importance in facing the future because the way we imagine it is based heavily on past experiences and our current value system. Good Futurists constantly challenge themselves and their beliefs to explore new futures. A Futures Mindset helps us make better decisions in the present by imagining a future we are ready to create today.
I have moved every five years, visiting different schools, cities and countries. This is probably why I am so good today at networking, bringing people together, adapting quickly to new situations, and always staying truthful with myself. Because early on, I had to rely on these skills.
Besides dancing, I was very interested in setting up TVs and technology as a child. After many moves, I had to learn how to do it because my father usually didn't have the time. Since then, my interest in technology has grown over the years, and I was lucky enough to grow up at a time when the Internet and cell phones were just emerging. Quite naturally, I then decided to study engineering.
Living and studying in Australia for two years broadened my horizons for the future - from a technology-centric view to a social change impact view. I would say that my whole perspective on life changed as a result of my experience in Australia. The MBA furthered my leadership skills and the Master of Strategic Foresight finally ignited my passion for the future.
During my professional career so far, I have been able to work for all kinds of organizations, from corporates to startups and NGOs. The last years as a freelancer have taught me self-discipline, patience and the strength to live and follow my own passion every day.
